Hello

Welcome to Salient Works. We are a small company from Kirkland WA that is developing new solutions for data analysis, visualization and decision support.

The digital revolution is affecting all aspects of our lives. More and more data about us, our behavior, interactions and environments are collected on a daily basis. The questions are no longer how to get the data, but what to do with them, what rules should be applied, and who will control the process. Many of our decisions are already being made based on the data, which are extensively analyzed in order to extract useful information and create practical models. Unfortunately, we are more often the objects of data analysis than the subjects controlling and benefiting from the process. Conducting effective data analysis is still not easy, it requires skills, tools and time to spent. But without it, the information overload we’re facing is not much different from a state of sensory deprivation.

We believe that data analysis technologies will change decision-making processes just as the Internet and mobile devices changed the nature of our interactions and communication patterns. Data analysis will become more accessible and more available, from data management, through natural user interfaces, to utilizing full potential of artificial intelligence. New analysis technologies will be universally used by individuals, groups and organizations that can fully control the processes and directly benefit from results consistent with their goals, needs and expectations. New application scenarios will impact every part of our lives: personal, social, economic and political, and will lead to creating new rules, types of business, relationships and opportunities. But to get there, we need more than algorithms and models.

We need data analysis that is closer to users’ requirements, preferences and social or business contexts. We need solutions that focus on data analysis experience so users could get relevant results, without the need to become data analysts or even leaving their problem domains. Data analysis should be a natural and default action when we are facing a non-trivial decision and need more insight, better understanding or verification of information provided by another side. This will require taking social context into consideration, especially for groups and organizations, and facilitating data-centered communication and collaboration, including non-human actors. “Closer to the user” also means control over the process, with clear rules regarding privacy, transparency or ownership of information.

We build a software framework for data analysis solutions that are close to users, effective and adaptable to different scenarios and social contexts. We will use the framework in consumer products, but at this point we offer it in our services of creating custom analysis and visualization templates that are adapted to specific business needs and requirements.

Please contact us if you have any questions about our framework or services.
